Mahogany's Story...
Mahogany is young adult Beagle/Feist mix who was picked up as a stray by Lunenburg County, Virginia animal control. She was acquired by Stray Haven in March 2013, as a foster for another rescue. She is a friendly little girl who gets along well with people and her canine friends. There is no history of her being around children, but I'm sure she'd interact well with children who appreciate and respect animals. She is Black and Tan in color and weighs aprx 25lbs. Mahogany is spayed, heartworm negative, has received her rabies vaccine, distemper/parvo/combo vaccine, bordetella and deworming. She does not do well on a leash.... twisting, turning and jumping in the air to get away so she needs leash training. She does use the doggie door to go outside to potty, but still has a few accidents so she still needs patience with her house training. She is currently being fostered at Stray Haven which is a home-based rescue so she is in the house, not in a kennel.

If you have an interest in adopting Mahogany please contact Bev Menier at: and I will put you in touch with the intake rescue.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mahogany, a Dundas Beagle/Feist dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Feist for sale in Dundas, or seeking a Beagle/Feist dog from a breeder in Dundas.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Dundas already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Dundas breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Feist breeders who help with Beagle/Feist rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Dundas paves the way for another one to be saved.
