My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Read more about me here.

Is there such a thing as too much fun? Not according to Shadow. This happy, happy, happy collie boy greets every day with a joyous woof and a cheerful optimism. Every person he meets is his new favorite playmate and every dog he sees is his new best friend. Even cats are a source of boundless enthusiasm.

Shadow is as handsome as he is happy. He is a big, sable and white boy who just celebrated his first birthday, so in many ways he is still a puppy. He has lots of energy and loves to play in his fenced yard with the other dogs at his foster home. Any kind of game is okay with Shadow, but his very favorites are fetch and tug. Because he is an active young dog, a fenced yard is a real plus since it provides him with a safe place to run, play and burn off excess energy.

Shadow loves children, but because he is a big rowdy boy, he would be happiest with older children who will not be frightened by his exuberant style of play. When he is caught up in his game playing, he will sometimes nip at his playmates and this too might be intimidating to younger kids.

Shadow greets everyone he meets with enthusiasm. This includes humans, other dogs and even kitties. Sadly, most cats don't appreciate his rough-and-tumble style, so he would probably get along best with dog-savvy felines who won't run from him (because you can't chase what doesn't run). He is both house trained and crate trained, and is okay on a leash, though he is still refining that skill. He enjoys being brushed and groomed, and on a recent visit to the vet, he was describes as an “angel.”

Shadow is looking for an active forever family who will include him in their activities. He would love to have another energetic dog as a playmate and would be a great companion to older children. If there are any cats who enjoy a good game of chase or tug, Shadow is definitely the dog to give it to them. His activity level really requires either a fenced yard or a family that is committed to providing him with plenty of exercise and off leash playtime. In exchange, Shadow will lavish his new family with a lifetime of fun and a loving enthusiasm that will make every day a joyous adventure.
