I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, not good with kids, and not good with dogs.
Gene is a 7 year old male Rat Terrier. He is neutered, microchipped and is current on vaccinations.
Gene was found in an abandoned home with 30 other dogs. The poor dogs were living in a horrible situation and were forced to eat another dog to stay alive. Gene is understandably very traumatized by his past life and has anxiety issues around other dogs. He is extremely scared when other dogs bark and will not eat if another dog is nearby. For this reason he would do best in a home without other dogs and also needs a quiet home with someone who is willing to work with this special boy to help get him over his fears.
Gene is timid but is learning to trust. A gentle approach and some yummy treats definitely help and he is extremely gentle when taking treats. He has a sweet personality underneath his scared exterior.
Gene has been in foster care for the last four months in a home with an older couple with other dogs & cats. He has been getting along well with the other pets in the home. He is still on the shy side and will take a while to warm up to new people, but after a few weeks learns to trust those around him.
