My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dezi's adoption fee is $375.

Dezi is a two year old Terrier mix that weighs about 8 pounds. She is spayed, micro chipped and her shots are up to date, and she is house trained. When Dezi first came to her foster home, she was fearful of everything and everyone. We did not even realize she had a tail, because it was always hidden between her legs. Whenever someone she didn’t know came into the house, she would run and hide. In working with Dezi, we now hold her when strangers arrive, so she realizes there is nothing to fear; once she relaxes, we put her down, and within an hour of patience and treats, she will approach the stranger. There will be ongoing training required by her new owner.

Although she is still fearful of strangers, Dezi discovered her inner puppy. She loves to play fetch, run in the backyard, chase the other dogs and wrestle with her humans. She is a bundle of energy but will curl up on your lap when it is time to rest. Dezi is currently crated when at home alone, as she has not yet completely learned the art of sharing with the other dogs. She is not destructive at all, and once she masters sharing, the crate would likely not be necessary. Dezi is a sweetheart that thrives on praise. Her favourite place to sleep is under the blankets with her humans, but she will also sleep in a crate. Her ideal home would be an adult only home or one with older children that would give her time, patience and be willing to continue to teach her that people aren’t to be feared. If Dezi sounds like the companion that you’ve been looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
