Daisy's Story...
Lake Haven received an urgent plea from a rescue in Georgia asking us if we could help rescue 28 puppies and 4 adult dogs. Lake Haven said "Yes, transport them to Michigan!"On March 23, 2013 these animals arrived - all of them were scheduled to be euthanized and Lake Haven had to step in to help. All of the puppies and adult dogs are placed in foster care. Updates on them will be provided as soon as we get them from each foster family.3-25-13 Foster Update: Daisy is doing well in foster care. She is a very social dog and loves to jump and play. She gets along well with cats and wants to play with them. She also gets along well with dogs. She is a snuggler too. They are working on potty training her and she is doing well in that area.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Daisy, a Newaygo Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Newaygo, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Newaygo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Newaygo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Newaygo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Newaygo paves the way for another one to be saved.
