David - PENDING, in Maine's Story...
David's Maine foster mom says, "David is doing awesome. What a great pup! He is going on the paper or going to the door to go out. He has been sleeping every night in our son's room on the dog bed and he sleeps all night. He is doing well walking on a leash and is a very very good pup!"

David weighs 18 pounds and is 14 weeks old as of April 1.

The D puppies are big babes, the largest (Dexter) is around 25 lbs and they are only 12 weeks old (as of mid-March) There is a picture of their mom included, she is a medium size fluffy shepherd who looks like an aussie. These babies were found under a shed and were brought to the attention of our southern rescue partners. Their mama was so good to them, she kept bringing them food and keeping them hidden. It took a while to catch all of them once they were ready to be weaned but they now are safe in foster care and waiting to come north. They are very sweet and getting more social with humans. Derek is the ham of the litter, always trying to get where the camera is, and David is the smallest - he is bonding more with the humans than the other dogs because the bigger ones push him around.

Please note, we do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

David - PENDING, in Maine, a kennebunkport Australian Shepherd puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in kennebunkport, or seeking a Australian Shepherd puppy from a breeder in kennebunkport.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in kennebunkport already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a kennebunkport breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in kennebunkport paves the way for another one to be saved.
