Darla's Story...
Darla is an approximately 1 - 1 1/2 year old piebald female with natural ears. Update 9/29/13 - Darla's foster mom is doing a great job with her and has been working on the "watch" command when Darla sees another dog. Darla is selective with the dogs she meets, so its important to do a slow introduction which means no dog parks. She's been having play dates with a 20 months old male Dane Petey and they both seem to enjoy chasing and wrestling with each other. Darla does well with a male dog that enjoys playing and running as much as she does. Even while she's playing with Petey she'll run over to get a pat or praise from her foster mom before she goes back to play. Darla is wonderful around people and children and wants to be part of any family event, even if its just sitting on the couch watching TV and snuggling with a family member. She would be great in a home that would take the time to work with her and include her in their activities.

Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League can only adopt within its incorporated area (eastern NY, eastern PA, NJ, DE, WV, MD, and VA). For more information on our adoption policies please visit our website: www.magdrl.org To adopt a Great Dane under 2 you must have traditional fencing (no electronic fences permitted). Why Adoption is a Great Option

Darla, a Pearl River Great Dane dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Dane for sale in Pearl River, or seeking a Great Dane dog from a breeder in Pearl River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Pearl River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Pearl River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Dane breeders who help with Great Dane rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Pearl River paves the way for another one to be saved.
