Astro (foster care)'s Story...
Hi! Are you maybe here to meet me? My name is ASTRO. I used to be called Metal, and right now I’m looking for a hero! I have an ID number that is A19429875, so please bring that if you want to meet me at ACCT Philly.

Why do I need a hero, you ask? Doesn’t everybody at some point? Let me tell you my story. I was surrendered by my owner because my owner didn’t have enough time for me. I don’t remember what happened there, but everyone has noticed that I came to this shelter really scared and I didn’t want to leave my kennel. Thanks to some really dedicated volunteers including my new pen pals (more on them later), I’ve made enormous strides. I just need someone who can continue to teach me to trust!

I have some fantastic perks. For one thing, volunteers say I’m quite the looker! I have the most gorgeous big gray eyes, snow white fur with copper colored patches, and best yet—freckles! Yes, that’s right, I’m blessed with what some volunteers call the cutest freckles across my snout. But I’m more than just handsome. I love other dogs! I’m still nervous so if they’re pushy or in my face I don’t like that yet, but just recently I got to walk with another dog (a girl) and boy did I have fun! The volunteers with me were so happy to see me actually playing with the other dog. I’m the comeback kid! I just know that with the right person, I’ll really blossom.

Do you think you have what it takes to be my hero? I tend to be better with women rather than men, but one of my favorite volunteers who works with me is a man and I have learned to trust him. He’s my pen pal and he picked me to work with one-on-one and help me get a home. I’m a bit of a gourmet and I love some grilled hot dogs and string cheese. I would love to live with another dog but that’s okay if you don’t have one! I am available for adoption or fostering. Fostering is when you take me into your home and find me my forever home. ACCT Philly provides the medical care. Adoption hours are Monday-Friday, 1pm to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm. Fostering hours are 9am to 6pm every day. For more information about me, please email mandy.aly.b@gmail.com. Thank you and I can’t wait to meet you!

Act quickly to adopt Astro (foster care). Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Astro (foster care), a Philadelphia Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
