Opal's Story...
Opal is a 12 week old female Lab mix pup that came to us from a residence in Austin. Opal is very cute and cuddly. She is a little intimidated with Shelter life, but warms up to anyone who shows her kindness. At this point, she is not overly hyper, but in a private home she may exhibit more puppy energy than we’ve seen so far. She is working on crate training but her new home will need to continue this once she is adopted. We do expect that Opal will grow to be a large-sized Lab-mix. Right now, Opal is about the size of a cocker spaniel. She is current with vaccinations and will be spayed prior to her adoption. Opal's adoption fee is $95. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Opal, a Austin Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Austin, or seeking a Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
