Ellie Mae's Story...
This funny gal is hysterical. She thinks she is a 8lb lap dog. She wants to run and play and then snuggle up really close. This breed is loyal and sweet and she is no different. She does have quite a howl but only to get your attention because she wants nothing more than hang out with you! Bassets do require regular cleaning of their ears to prevent infection but other than that they are really low maintenance! They are great with children and in general terrific family dogs!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ellie Mae, a Baton Rouge Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Baton Rouge, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Baton Rouge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baton Rouge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baton Rouge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baton Rouge paves the way for another one to be saved.
