Lily Engle's Story...
6/25/13: UPDATE: Lily is doing well after getting settled in her new foster home in PA. She is being fostered with a home that has two playful dogs and two cats. She does great with all animals in the house, and she is affectionate with the child in the home. Now that her fur has grown in from the mange and the massive skin infections she had when she was first found as a stray in Kentucky, she is much happier and getting more comfortable in her own skin and learning better how to play. She follows all of the commands she learned in the prison training program and loves to go for long hikes with her foster family. Lily would be an ideal running partner and would do great in an active home.

Lily was found as a stray in Kentucky. She had almost no fur and was not recognizable as any breed due to severe skin infections. She was emaciated and on the verge of death. After nearly a month in the vet hospital, Lily was released to a prison education program in Hazard county, Kentucky, where she has done very well learning commands and has graduated the program. She now lives in her foster home with a 2yr old little boy, 2 cats & 2 other dogs & is enjoying her new life. Any family would be very lucky to have Lily

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lily Engle, a Lancaster Akita/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Akita/Labrador Retriever for sale in Lancaster, or seeking a Akita/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Lancaster.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lancaster already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lancaster breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Akita/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Akita/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lancaster paves the way for another one to be saved.
