Ernie's Story...
Friendly Guy, Ernie, is a very handsome fawn male, who was born 8/2011, so he will be two in August. His "perfect home" wish list would be people who are around, not all of the time, but enough. Kids are fine. Other greyhounds are a plus. (My brother describes Ernie as the kind of dog who just needs a human to sit with while they watch TV together.) He likes the dog door, but would probably manage without one in a home where he could just follow another hound out at potty time. Ernie enjoys playing with humans and hounds. He chatters and puffs his lips when he is happy. Ernie likes to sleep belly-up, leaning against the sofa.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ernie, a Harrisburg Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Greyhound for sale in Harrisburg, or seeking a Greyhound dog from a breeder in Harrisburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Harrisburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Harrisburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Greyhound breeders who help with Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Harrisburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
