About Mr. Duffy from his foster Dad….
Duffy is a male 43 pound, 2 year old, black, smooth-coat Lab mix. He is crate trained, but is practically never in the crate. He loves and demands attention. He would prefer to sleep on the bed, but will sleep on the floor if told to. When he arrived, he had a serious problem with jumping up on people. Since he is extremely sturdy-built, he can easily knock over a child or an older person. He is much better with jumping up than he was when he arrived, but is not perfect. When he came to me, he had clearly never seen a horse before and growled a bit. After the first day, he was completely comfortable and is surprisingly careful in the barn. He spends all day every day with me. He rides beautifully in the truck and is a perfect gentleman on leash. When I take him to a horse show with me, I do put a pinch collar on, just to be sure I have his immediate attention if I need it. He has never put a foot out of place when on any show grounds - including meeting strange dogs and new horses and people. He gets along with most but not all dogs. I have a female, 45 pound, American Eskimo rescue and a female 12 pound Schnoodle that he gets along fine with. He does play pretty hard, so every so often there is a misunderstanding but nothing serious.
