Desi's Info...

Desi's Story...
Desi is a sweet Sun Conure that is constantly wanting attention. He enjoys sitting on a perch out of his cage, or on top of his cage throughout the day. When he wants attention or feels like he is being ignored, he will make a loud caw like noise to try to get you to pick him up. During meal times, Desi's favorite treat is wheat or oat bread with a little bit of peanut butter on it. He also enjoys many vegetables and a few fruits. Desi can bite, but it is rare that he does. When he is upset, it is possible to scratch his head and give him a few pets and he will then let you pick him up. He comes out of the cage easily and knows the command Step-Up. He also knows a few tricks such as "fly" which he will flap his wings, or "Go upside down" which will have him drop backwards off your finger and hold on upside down with one foot. He loves adult females, especially if they have long hair that he can play in and snuggle up against their neck.

Desi's approximate hatch date is 2009, and his adoption fee is $150.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Desi, a St. Louis Conure was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Conure for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Conure from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Conure breeders who help with Conure rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
