Anyone wanting to adopt a German Shepherd MUST have knowledge about their needs. These are very intelligent dogs that need lots of exericse, both physically and mentally.
Please discuss and consider if you are now, and will be in the foreseable future, in a financial position to provide to the dogs needs, unexpected vet bills, and common health issues specific to the breed.
Please note, any 'curtousy post' is just that, GaDaH knows nothing about that individual animal, however, will pass on your enqury to the rescue that has the pet.
Strong, fun distemper survivor
TESSE was saved from Animal Care Services, San Antonio, and after days of being home she and her siblings got sick. They had distemper and sadly one of her siblings did not make it.
All pups had the distemper serum, which helped them get over the mucas phase, but TESSA had mild pneumonia. She had a mild cough for pneumonia and with antibiotics and supplements she recovered well.
Due to her being sick for so long, she and her siblings are still very shy. Shee is so very sweet and is so desperate to be loved, and has over the time built up confidence with me, but she will take a little time to warm up to her new family. They will need to be patient with her and allow that strong GSD personality to come out in its own time. She is quite independent.
TESSA has been spayed, core vaccines, rabies and is microchipped.
If you are interested in adopting TESSA and giving her the most perfect home, please go to our website to download the adoption application, or if you would like more information, please email Jenny at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Rescue Group Info...
Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue (GaDaH) is a small home based animal rescue, working with Animal Care Services to save predominately GERMAN SHEPHERD DOGS from being euthanized.
GaDaH works on getting the dogs both physically and mentally healthy, and to provide a loving, safe home, with training whilst in the search of finding their truly deserved forever home
Please visit out website or facebook page for all current upcoming events.
GaDaH does not have a regular venue, however, we do attend most of the AAPAWS mega adoption events, and the yearly San Antonio PET EXPO's.
We enjoy bringing potential pets to your home, so that you can get more of a feel for the dog/puppy, and how it interacts with your family members.
For more information, please email
NO DOG, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES will be adopted out to be an OUTSIDE DOGS.
All dogs are to be part of the family and treated as such.
If you are looking for a guard dog, a protection dog, or just a dog to keep in your yard, then please reconsider the responsibilities of owning a dog.
Please go our website "www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org" to download an application form.
Complete it and send it to "firstname.lastname@example.org" so arrangements can be made for a meet and great.
GaDaH will bring the potential adoptable pets to your home for a meet and greet, once the application, and references have been submitted.
The adoption process includes, but is not limited to:
A meet and greet
An in-depth application - download from website
A letter of reference from a current or former vet - on their letter headed paper
Two written references from people who know you and your family well - (not from family members).
A meet and greet on neutral ground with any other dogs
A home visit
A home visit with the dog/puppy
Potential adopters are encouraged to meet potential dogs/puppies as often as they like, and no rush decisions made. If after the above, both parties would like to go forward with an adoption, then a ONE-WEEK Temporary foster contract is completed, before any adoption process can be complete.
This is to ensure the potential adopters, and as equally important the dog/puppy, and GaDaH are all happy.
