Penny's Info...

Penny's Story...
Penny is a 5 month old (as of April 1) Shepherd mix who currently weighs 30 pounds. Penny is spayed, has had her 3rd DHPP shots as well as Rabies shot. She is crate trained. At bedtime I tell her "go get in your crate" and she gets up and goes into the crate with no problems.

Penny is very inquisitive pup. She is able to entertain herself playing and dashing about the yard. She is very social. We have been doing a Sirrus Puppy 1 class where she is the brightest student. She is very social with other dogs and people. However, at this point she is not a fit for families with young children as she feeds off their energy and may attempt to herd or control them.

We take walks every morning where she spends most of the time with her nose to the ground taking in all there is to smell. We have been working on loose leash walking and she is responding well. She is just getting the concept of heel, but needs more work in this area. When she sees other dogs she wants to go meet them (ears up and pull towards). She greets by sniffing nose and rear.

Penny is very smart and is able to pick up new behaviors extremely quickly. She currently knows sit, down, leave it, fetch (Go get it and thank you), get in your crate, get in your bed. Her sit-say is getting better all the time. I can take about five steps away while she is in a stay. A friend of ours was able to teach her shake in 15 min. Most impressive is her recall command "touch". on command she will come running to hit my palm with her nose. I have had success with this command in the house from the back bedroom, form across the back yard, and in the midst of puppy play in the training class.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Penny, a Livermore Shepherd (Unknown Type) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Livermore, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type) puppy from a breeder in Livermore.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Livermore already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Livermore breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Livermore paves the way for another one to be saved.
