Opal's Story...
Opal is a sweet, petite little lady who is looking fur love! She came to LFLDR after her elderly owner could no longer care for her and is now in a foster home with several dogs. Opal does not mind other dogs but would prefer to have a lap of her own to sit on. A few years back, Opal had an operation on her hip that left her with a bit of a limp in her hind leg--this does not slow her down at all!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Opal, a Baton Rouge Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier for sale in Baton Rouge, or seeking a Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Baton Rouge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baton Rouge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baton Rouge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier breeders who help with Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baton Rouge paves the way for another one to be saved.
