Denis is a lady’s man – he seems to enjoy the company of women more than men. He also loves the company of other cats; at times we think that having another cat has made Denis more at ease with us. Over the time that Denis has stayed with us, he has grown from a frightened little kitten to a somewhat cautious but engaging little man.

He is much more comfortable sitting and lying around us during everyday activities. His favourite occupation is to sprawl out – doglike – in the middle of the floor or hallway. He finds it very amusing to be underfoot and ready at any moment to eat up a scrap of food that might fall. He is accepting of pets and cuddles; we’ve been picking him up every day and he’s become more and more comfortable with it.

Denis is quite smart and has been responding well to training commands such as “sit” or “come." He is food motivated. Denis loves to discover new things, and he has a lot of fun playing with water -- his water dish, the tub or sinks. He loves to play and is quite good at finding anything to play with.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Denis, a Vancouver Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Vancouver, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Vancouver.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Vancouver already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Vancouver breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Vancouver paves the way for another one to be saved.
