Brooksie's Story...
Irresistible smile alert!
This is Brooksie – the owner of both the most adorable smile and adorable underbite award at the shelter. Brooksie was found as a stray (hard to believe, but true) and has been a guest at ACCT since March 20th.
Brooksie is a social girl, she likes to stop by her neighbors’ kennels for a hello but her real love is the tennis ball! She will entertain herself (with the help of a human) by playing fetch over and over and over again. Brooksie loves to go for long walks. She is an excellent walking partner – she does not pull when she is wearing her harness, and every once in a while will look up at her handler to make sure she is doing a good job. She is learning to sit at corners for treats – and is now realizing that sitting (whether you ask her or not) will bring a reward!
Brooksie is now a member of the Pen Pals program at ACCT. She has two volunteers who work with her - specifically on things that help her on becoming a better canine companion for the lucky family who will eventually scoop her up. She is looking for companions who will give her quiet time to relax after coming home from the shelter, will continue to work with her on basic manners and obedience training (maybe in a class), and will have patience with her as she figures out how to be the best furry friend she can.
If Brooksie sounds like the girl for you, please bring the family (and any resident dogs) down to ACCT to meet her. Her pen pals can provide you more information via email: larakelly@comcast.net or katherine.acct@gmail.com. Once you meet her, you may soon realize you can’t live without that contagious smile and sweet underbite!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Brooksie, a Philadelphia Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/American Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/American Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
