Dorothy's Story...
This 50 pound, black and tan Shepherd mix (DOB 9/18/11) was given the name "Dorothy" after the character in "The Wizard of Oz" who was trying to find her way back home. Dorothy was scared and distrustful of humans when she was first spotted, but once she got into good, loving hands she knew her fears were unfounded. Dorothy is friendly, energetic, and gets along well with other dogs. She has been vet checked, spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and tested negative for heartworm. Call 507-451-4512 to meet Dorothy in her foster home. Dorothy's adoption fee is $200. (CE)

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dorothy, a Owatonna Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Owatonna, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Owatonna.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Owatonna already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Owatonna breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Owatonna paves the way for another one to be saved.
