Spirit's Story...
Spirit is a gentle 8-9 year old Llewellin Setter, a special type of English Setter.  Spirit is a wonderful family companion who loves being with his people and does wonderfully with the other low key dogs in his foster home.  Spirit does well with all dogs; however he does not play and prefers the other dogs just let him be. Spirit has been around a cat or two while in foster care and is quite timid, choosing to avoid the cat.  Spirit thrives on being a part of the family and soaking up the attention.  When Spirit desires additional love and attention he will gently place his foot on you, tilt his head and wait.

Spirit chooses not to play with toys, but does enjoy following his nose to track down birds and squirrels.  Spirit enjoys the water and will swim in the pond if he has some ducks or geese to follow.  This sweet older gentleman is a bit hard of hearing, so we request his new family have a fenced yard for his safety.  Spirit hears lower, loud tones the best and can be called in from the yard by clapping your hands a couple of times until he looks at you and then waving him in.

In the house Spirit is an ideal guest.  He is completely house trained, has a mellow energy level and just loves to relax the day away.  Don't let his house energy fool you, this boy loves his daily walks and thrives to get out and use his nose.  Spirit is fair on the leash and will sit when asked.

Spirit has a special feeding routine and an inexpensive daily medication that keeps his digestion in line. He loves treats, but needs to be limited on how many/what treats he can have so as not to upset his tummy.

This soft coated boy needs regular brushing and has been wonderful at the groomers.  Everyone who meet Spirit falls for his gentle demeanor and soulful eyes!  Although Spirit is easy going, he prefers a home with children 10 and older due to his age.

Spirit has been neutered, brought up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.

If you would like to meet Spirit to see if he would make a great addition to your family, please complete an adoption application at or for more information please contact us at

There is a $40 adoption fee for Spirit.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Spirit, a Boise Setter (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Setter (Unknown Type) for sale in Boise, or seeking a Setter (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Boise.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Boise already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Boise breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Setter (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Setter (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Boise paves the way for another one to be saved.
