I am already neutered, housetrained, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, and good with kids.
The SPCA of Suffolk County NY called on a great animal advocate to assist them in getting a pit bull mix that had been left outside on a chain for about 10 years to safety. He was emaciated, had hot spots and sores on his body from laying on the concrete. He was not only chained to heavy chain, but that chain also had 3 padlocks on it! They rushed him to the vet. He received vaccinations and took blood and a Urinalysis. . The blood work came back saying he is Lymes and Heartworm Positive. He has been treated and is now clear :)
He is non-symptomatic to the Lymes so the vet is not concerned about treatment. He has begun treatment and will remain at his fosters until treatment is complete around June 15th. We are accepting applications now in hopes that his "new owner" will be found and the bonding can begin as soon as possible.
.He does not like cats and would do best in a quieter home. We would prefer to keep him as an only pet. We believe his around 10 years old. Please consider letting this boy live out the rest of his years being loved and learning that being a dog doesn't mean being chained up and neglected.

Rescue Group Info...
We are 3 woman Pattie Lazarus, Denise Abandolo & Rita Accardi who became friends through our passion for helping animals in need.
All of us work at least one full time job and the rest of our time goes for the little souls that need our help. Recently Andrew McBride has joined our crew & he's been a wonderful addition to our rescue
Andrew brings us the balance we need .. along with his expertise in being able to assist with the training & rehabilitation of some of our harder to handle dogs. (I think he's been training us too)
We are as dedicated to each other as we are to the animals. Together we are making a difference. We have dozens of volunteers who help us on all levels
There are some who handle networking, mass emailing, etc. Others who help here on facebook. We have fosters who take in our rescues for a period of time, so that a rescued dog learns to live in a hosuehold
and so that we can learn to get to know the animal a little better ~ also the fosters assist us in getting the animals OUT of the shelters faster & more efficiently. There are also those wonderful people who do volunteer
transport !!! Thats so so important !! and everyone else, who just likes our page or shares our pictures ~ we are ALL in this together.
An adoption application must be completed before any meet and greets or extensive information is given out. All of our animals are home fostered and we must be diligent about protecting our volunteers. Our adoption fees range from $0 to $500 and are determined on a per case basis. Our puppies that are to young to be spayed or neutered will be adopted out and a contract will be signed committing the adopter to perform the procedure as soon as the puppy is deemed ready by a veterinarian. This will be done no later than 6 months of age.
Our animals are rescues. We sometimes don't know everything about the animal as they are usually in our care for a short period of time. We disclose EVERYTHING are aware of at the time of adoption. We cannot be responsible for an issue that occurs weeks or months or years after the animal is adopted.
Opening your heart and your home to a rescue animal is a commitment. It is not for as long as the dog is easy to care for, or, for until you get tired of it. It is for the life of that animal. We will be very selective as to who we allow to adopt our angels. We expect you to be open and honest during the adoption process.
