Duffy's Story...
Duffy is about 11 months old, around 23 pounds, medium-ish in size and we think a terrier-spaniel mix. He plays very well with our 17 pound 2.5 year old Yorkie. He is definitely still a puppy and has lots of energy. He benefits from as much exercise and stimulation as possible. He will sometimes bark at people when on a walk or in a car so may need some leash work, but the barking is not excessive and he easily redirected. He is timid in the house only when our Yorkie is barking at someone in the hallway or a noise.

Duffy rides well in the car, and will bark at people walking by. He seemed anxious when we left him in the car for 15 minutes to run into the supermarket. He is house-trained and only had one accident in our apartment, which seemed to be more about him learning how to communicate with us about his need to go outside as much as us learning about how he communicates when he needs to go outside. He has been very gentle and calm with children. At the park, two young girls asked to pet him. I gave them treats to give to him and had them approach slowly and he was super great with them! We don't know how he is around cats.

He still needs training, especially for not jumping up on people and leash walking. He walks very well on leash if he has an 'Easy Walk' harness (a harness that the leash clips at the chest area) on. All in all, he is a very trainable dog. When tethered or instructed to lie on his bed he responds well so we think he should be easy to train and he wants to please us. We think he will be OK for a home with children or for a first time owner. Training will be important for him. He is very sweet and likes to cuddle when he is settled down. He is going to make someone a great companion.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duffy, a San Francisco Spaniel (Unknown Type)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Spaniel (Unknown Type)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) for sale in San Francisco, or seeking a Spaniel (Unknown Type)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog from a breeder in San Francisco.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Francisco already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Francisco breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Spaniel (Unknown Type)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) breeders who help with Spaniel (Unknown Type)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Francisco paves the way for another one to be saved.
