Jeremy's Story...
Jeremy is a 6 month old collie/sheepdog mix that has a birth defect (caused by a merle to merle breeding). Unfortunately, this birth defect has resulted in Jeremy being deaf. Although his eyes are small, we have had his vision evaluated and it appears he can see normally. His foster has already taught him to sit and give paw with just hand signals - he's a really smart dog!! He has had no accidents in the house, and sleeps great through the entire night. He's still getting used to the crate. Jeremy gets along great with other dogs. If you would like to meet Jeremy, please complete an application at www.henricohumane.org.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jeremy, a Richmond Australian Shepherd/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd/Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Australian Shepherd/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd/Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Australian Shepherd/Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
