My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE NOTE: !!!! FOSTERED BY HER FAMILY IN ALBERTA CANADA. If you think you might like a settled sweet active 8 year old please contact Janeen Jackson 406-323-3519 or email for our adopt application jj4@midrivers.com Please don't think this dog is over the hill. She has a lot of good years left. The reason for re-homing is that there are two small active children in the home and while she loves older children it is just too much on her to have little children, the family has no time for her also and she wants and needs it.

Alexa is a passionate, lovely dog with a loyal temperament and has accepted two young children in her life as best she can. Alexa loves to chase anything that will run away - rabbits, deer, bears. She is as smart as any dog that I know, sensing an impending walk before my wife does. She can follow around 20 verbal and visual commands, and has capability to learn many more. Alexa is very athletic, though she would happily spend plenty of her days laying in the warm sunshine on the patio if she could. She loves the warmth of a bed. Her love for food is only second to her love for us. Her two favorite times of day are breakfast and dinner. Alexa has had regular veterinarian checkups and vaccinations. Alexa was found on the side of a highway with a broken elbow when she was 1.5 years old. It was surgically repaired, and has never caused any issue with physical activity.

Alexa is dog reactive with new dogs that she meets. I have found that allowing her to meet the other dog slowly can reduce this. She plays happily with dogs that she has an established relationship with, even if it started out rough. She is protective of her home and family like many Catahoulas. She has never bitten a person, but is protective of her family like most Catahoulas. Alexa is very food motivated;. She will steal food from the counter or table if left unattended but many Catahoulas love food and will counter surf. . There are no rules in her mind when it comes to food. If this dog were crate trained and taught some real leadership she would really be a nice girl and she is smart and not too old to learn . GOOD WITH OLDER KIDS. Please lets give this girl a relaxed middle age and senior years to come
