I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, and good with cats.
Murphy is a much-loved 3 year old black lab cross. He is perfect for an active family with older kids who love to run and play. A large sized dog, Murphy weighs just over 100lbs and is a puppy at heart. His coat is healthy, shiny and much softer than most labs. He is tall with long legs and has a goofy wag to his tail.
Murphy is suited for a home with older kids, as he is too large and clumsy to live with small children. He is very affectionate and loves to lay down at the feet of his owners in the evening.
He is an athletic dog and loves to run and retrieve his ball. He knows commands to search for his ball and place it in the owner's hand while he patiently lays down awaiting the exciting throw. If the owner motions for him to come closer, he will inch up right to your feet. When the ball is thrown, he will run as fast as he can to grab it in his mouth and he is overly eager to return it to you. Murphy loves to leap up high if sticks are thrown above him. He walks well on a leash and will sit down when he is stopped. He will sit and stay on command and wait even if you walk away. It is exciting for him when he is called back towards the person and happily returns when called.
Murphy is easily trainable and listens well. Along with the above mentioned skills, he also knows the basics such as sit, lay down, and stay. He will wait for you to tell him what to do next after he is told to stay.
Murphy would be best as a single dog as he doesn't like the company of other male dogs. He does well with female dogs and cats. Murphy is not food aggressive and will sit and wait with a full bowl of food in front of him until he is given the okay to eat. He is fully house trained and does not have accidents inside.
He feels safe at night sleeping silently in his crate. He will often crawl inside it with the door open and curl up when he is tired. When told to go in his "house", he obediently goes inside.
We need Murphy to go to a forever home where he can be happy and active. We sadly have to part with him because he plays rough with our toddler and we want him to have a good life and be loved as much as we love him.
