My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Isabella is a gentle, sweet and as well-behaved as they come. From the moment she came in to our home she has been a delight. I wasn't familiar with the Mountain Cur breed before meeting Isabella, but from the research I did, she is very consistent with the breed standards. She loves affection, and is well-trained. Our young boys have played with her, given her treats, and lots of love. She is GREAT with kids. Isabella is an adult dog approximately 4 - 5 years old and currently weighs 60 lbs although she is a bit of a chunky-monkey.

Here is what else Isabella's foster family had to say:

Isabella loves people including children and never jumps up on them. She has never shown any aggression to anyone. She is not shy and warmly greets everyone including strangers and other dogs, in a friendly manner. We do not have other pets but she was fine at the dog park. She is confident and doesn't instigate or get involved in other dog's issues. Our neighbour's dog was barking excessively outside, and she just stood there and listened to him! She only let's out a gentle bark to say she wants out or in.

She is fine to be left on her own in the home without worry. We went out for a few hours the first full day she was here, and she was absolutely fine. Whenever we go out she just stays on her bed and waits for us to return. She is not afraid of any loud noises and is always calm and gentle in any situation. She is a well socialized, friendly and calm family pet.

She clearly has hound tendencies, and would choose to walk with her nose to the ground. We are working on this with a reward system and a special collar that keeps her nose up. She didn't like it for the first part of her walk, but by the time we were coming home she wasn't pulling - very clever dog! Although outside she loves to romp around and is playful, in the home she is calm and quiet. I get up around 5:30 am and she just rolls over on her back for a belly rub and then goes back to sleep. We gave her a bath yesterday and she was AMAZING. She followed me upstairs, hopped in the tub, let me bathe her, then hoped out. NO FUSS. She is lovely and fresh now, and hair is coming out because of the bath, but not nearly as much as our lab used to. She is definitely a quiet dog. She has barked once, and that was at a squirrel she saw when looking into the back yard.

She appears very healthy - but maybe a tendency to gain weight. We are trying to be strict with the treats so she doesn't get heavy. Her manners are AMAZING. She will sit and shake a paw for my kids. When I'm cooking or we're eating she hovers - hoping for some food - but we do not engage with her and she stops. She is VERY well behaved. She knows all her basic commands and responds well. She is fully house trained. We are not using a crate for her as it is not needed.

Isabella will make a very wonderful family pet and companion. She is great with my children and anyone else that comes into our home. She is quiet, well mannered and a joy to have as a foster. She may need a bit more work on her leash training but other than that she is just an amazing girl!

If you think Isabella would be a good fit for your situation, please submit an application for consideration.
