Chakari's Story...
Chakari
4 year old Female Brown Spotted Glitter Gold Bengal

Doesn't Chakari look like an exotic wild cat? Well this poor girl was found as a stray wandering the streets and was dropped off at a wildlife center, because the people who found her assumed, from her appearance, that she was a wild animal.

At the wildlife center, employees immediately recognized that Chakari was not really a wild cat but rather a Bengal. Bengals are among the first “hybrid” cat breeds, and most Bengals are many generations away from the original cross of a domestic cat with an Asian leopard cat. Obviously, the wildlife center couldn't keep her, and so she found herself in a shelter. Clang!

The shelter evaluated Chakari and held her for the requisite amount of time, but nobody claimed her. She had no microchip, so there was nobody to contact about her either. Our colleagues at the shelter were anxious to get her into rescue and called PPCR to take her. Could we help? Yes, we could.

Chakari is a very health girl, weighing in at almost eleven pounds. The shelter and our own vet agree that she is about 4 years old. She appears to have given birth to kittens in the past but has now been spayed, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. (Those negative results are always a relief when we get a cat who has been wandering outdoors.)
Chakari certainly does resemble an exotic wild cat. She has a stunning pelt with “glitter gold” coloring between her dramatic brown rosettes. People often refer to the Bengal coat as “iridescent,” a quality that is difficult to capture in a photograph. In addition to looking glamorous, her coat is lush and silky soft to the touch.
Bengals are an extremely active breed and Chakari is no exception. She is constantly looking for things to do! She is intelligent, curious, and highly active. She is constantly on the move. She loves to climb to the highest places possible, so a large cat tree is certainly in order for her. We are looking for a home experienced with Bengals or some other highly active, intelligent breed.
She is still quite new in foster care and trying to figure out what has happened to her. We think at this time she would prefer being an only cat. We are not sure about dogs and will give preference to a household in which there are no dogs.

Chakari is fostered in Davis, CA.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chakari, a Vacaville Bengal cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bengal for sale in Vacaville, or seeking a Bengal cat from a breeder in Vacaville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Vacaville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Vacaville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bengal breeders who help with Bengal rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Vacaville paves the way for another one to be saved.
