Barney's Story...
Barney is a 2 year old lab mix. He loves to go for long walks with our volunteers! Barney has been having a good summer going to the Santa Maria Concerts in the Park with volunteers. He likes to meet new people and seems to enjoy the kids at the events as well. He is a very gentle dog and lets people give him hugs! He does well with the others dogs at the park too. We do believe he gets along better with female dogs than male. Barney would like a home with a family that will include him in daily activities, walks, jogging, etc. ID#359057

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Barney, a Santa Maria Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Santa Maria, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Santa Maria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Santa Maria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Santa Maria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Santa Maria paves the way for another one to be saved.
