Mattie's Story...
Mattie is a 7 Yrs old shih tzu. She is totally housetrained and is an alpha dog. She is great with everyone and likes to sleep with you. She has crooked teeth from where she bit wire kennel frame as she was growing up. She has always been called Mattie. Her first owner gave up on her because she kept running away. She gave her to a lady who had found her at 3 Yrs old. That owner kept her as an outside dog and Mattie kept running away. She went to her current foster home and has lived indoors and is a very smart and loving shih tzu that just wants to be loved and held. Mattie loves to walk on leash and never meets a stranger. She is spayed, heartworm negative, and current on her vaccinations.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mattie, a Harrisonburg Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Harrisonburg, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Harrisonburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Harrisonburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Harrisonburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Harrisonburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
