Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hanshou (hahn-show), which means "fire alarm" in Japanese, is a 5 year old Red male Shiba Inu that originally came to our rescue in the summer of 2011, was adopted out and just came back to us because his owners do not feel they have enough time for him.
Hanshou is good with children and has been fostered with cats in the past but would do best as the only dog.
He is working on crate training as he whines a bit in it but he's not bad. While we recommend crating him at least initially in the home, he is also a dog that you could probably fade out of the crate and leave loose in the home when you are gone or sleeping.
Hanshou is a bolter and will dash out an open door or gate at any opportunity so precautiou must be taken. One recommendation is to put him on a leash and hold him as you let people in and out of the home or simply crate him to prevent escape. Hanshou also needs 6 foot fencing if adopted to a house with a yard as he can get over shorter fencing. Hanshou may be able to be in an apartment as his whining in the crate isn't as loud as most Shibas and subsides within 10 minutes or so.
Hanshou's adoption fee is $275.00 which includes his neuter, distemper vaccination, microchip and 6 week professional training course or private session depending on his needs at the time of adoption.
