Speck's Story...
Say "hello" to Speck, our full-grown, forever pup! One of our PeeWee's Playhouse litters, Speck was spotted by our rescuers as his former owner dropped him and his brothers off at the pound. After we rescued PeeWee, the runt of the group, we decided we just couldn't leave the others behind! PeeWee, Speck, and Captain Carl are now in great homes where we are learning new things about these great guys every day!

Out of the three brothers, Speck is the most playful. Always ready to fetch a ball, meet a new friend, or leap over backyard obstacles, Speck is the perfect companion for an active household. When he's worn out, this guy is always looking for a hand to pet him or a warm body to snuggle up against. He even does well in the crate!

Speck would love to find a home that lets him exert his energy while giving him ample time to cuddle and stretch his legs. At 30lbs, this full-grown pit mix is not going to get much bigger and would be the perfect pet for an apartment or small home. He'd even love to be a second dog! Could you be the family that makes this little guy's playful dreams come true? Check out our adoption page at nlolchicago.org for more information!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Speck, a Chicago Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
