My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fresno is a very sweet, energetic, young dog - a very cute and handsome lad. Very playful, great with new people and other playful dogs. He's a player, a moocher, a snuggler. We were concerned that he would become a foster failure, he is such a sweet boy! Fresno is a young boy approximately 8 months to a year old and currently weighs 28 lbs.

Here is what else his foster family had to say:

Fresno is very calm and happy to meet new people, and children - he loves to be played with and has a very gentle demeanour when playing with children. He has never shown any acts of aggression. He is happy to meet new people and things, and is not shy at all. He is very curious and playful, which cats don't necessarily find appealing - but he loves meeting new friends. Occasionally, Fresno will whine or bark when a family member leaves the room - but not excessively, easily distracted by treats, hugs, or toys - he settles very quickly. He is very brave, not shy or fearful of anything - including the cats' not-so-happy responses to his exuberant behaviour.

Fresno is still very much a puppy and he loves to play, play, play. The only time he doesn't play, is when he's sleeping or relaxing on his bed. He loves to play - fetch, chase, with balls, with stuffies, with frisbees, with chew toys - he LOVES to play. His coat is lovely and soft, and shedding is low.

Fresno is still very much a puppy with puppy behaviours. He is still going through the last of his teething stage and loves to chew anything. He would definitely need to be crated while you are out of the house and when you are not able to watch him. He settles in his crate VERY well, and doesn't fuss (unless you come home with arm fulls of groceries and take more than 5 minutes to let him loose :P) He has a blanket in his crate, which he carries about like Linus :-) he is such a sweet boy - and the blanket is the one thing he hasn't chewed on :P We're working with Fresno on SIT, COME, PAW, DROP, and DOWN - especially the latter two. He is responding well to the training that we've been giving, eager to please - motivated by treats and cuddles. Fresno is house trained, he will act excitedly or whine/bark to let you know that he "needs to go out NOW" - we call it his "potty dance", you can't miss it once you're seen it. Fresno is excellent on the leash, barely pulls - and is a gentleman when he meets other dogs and humans on his travels.

Fresno will need training, but given that he is eager to please and the amount he's learned already, we think he'll do extremely well. He is a young dog, and as such has the boundless energy that a younger dog has, and the (lack of) attention span. He would be well suited with a family, he gets on very well with children and is respectful of their space for the most part. He enjoys walks and being outdoors, does not like to be left alone outdoors (who would!). He also loves to bury things. Even inside the house, he will take some kibble and "bury" it behind a curtain. He has properly buried some of his toys and treats in our backyard, perhaps he's expecting a treat tree to grow? :-)

If you think Fresno would be a good addition to your family, please submit an application for consideration.
