My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sunnie is a Chocolate Lab in miniature. She is just a doll and is all fun and cuddles. She is young girl approximately 10 months old and currently weighs 33 lbs. She bonds very easily and is playful, loving and eager to please. She will make a wonderful family companion and would be great with another dog or on her own. She will need a commitment to continue her training and would do best with a backyard to play in.

Here is what her foster parents had to say:

Sunnie is just that, a ray of sunshine from sun up to sun down. She is a happy, intelligent dog who loves everyone she meets. She likes, strike that out, she LOVES to cuddle by draping the upper half of her body over my lap and showing affection with numerous licks while waiting for the affection to be returned. I call her the half a lap dog...haha. She can hardly contain the enthusiasm when waiting for us to go out the door for a walk, which is her favourite thing to do other than trying to entice our dog to play with her and have a romp. She adapts to her new surroundings quickly and shows her loyalty by following me around the house making sure I don't go out without her. She is a dasher, so watch out if you try to leave without her. She hasn't mastered the stay as yet and will try to run out the door.

She gets along very well with our Beagle and is very friendly to dogs she meets on our walks and at the park. We crate Sunnie when we go out, however, we did not hear any barking when leaving the house. When we are home she will follow me around the house but is not anxious about it. She was a little afraid of the thunder storm last night but was not overly anxious. Her energy level is that of a Lab of her age. I would say moderate as long as she gets her daily walks.

She does not bark in the house except when she tries to get our dog to play with her, however the barking is not excessive and will stop barking when told to. She is healthy and has a shiny coat. She will need further training as she is still a pup in many ways. She is a counter surfer, so any food must be kept put away or at the back of the counter or table where she can`t get at it. She will also take Kleenex out of waste baskets and chew on them. She knows sit, but doesn`t always sit on command...we are working on that as well as other routine commands. She is house trained. We use a crate for night time and when we go out. She may be in the crate for about 4 hours when we are out and all night for up to 8 hrs. She doesn`t particularly want to go into the crate but does not make a fuss when we put her in and settles quite quickly with her stuffed toy.

Sunnie is a sweet, lovable, playful, happy dog typical of a Lab and loves anyone she meets when she`s out. She is what I call a half a lap dog putting both her fronts legs on my lap looking for affection and licking me until I give her what she is looking for. That's her way of cuddling. She loves to be with someone all the time and follows me around the house not wanting to let me out of her sight. She would do well in a family where she would have a constant companion that is active or play-dates with other doggie friends. She would be more suitable with older children as she might knock youngsters down in her exuberance to play.

If you think Sunnie would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
