My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When I spent 3 hours with Ricky & Katie's mom -taking photos and talking with her .....Ricky was the most friendly, comical and loving kitty. Ricky is a wonderful cat, he doens't even fuss when it is time for his pepcid - he just swallows what mom puts in his mouth. He's very kitten-ish and sweet. A great pussycat!!!!

RIcky's Cat-Tale: Ricky's mom is heartbroken over the fact that she has to re-home two of her cherished rescued cats. She has to move into new housing for her sake and her cats. She lives in an apartment complex where a tenant has threatened her and her cats. The landlord has been no help, nor anyone else. She has been feeling so much heartache over having to give up 2 of her fur-babies that she is sick over it all.
Ricky was born about 3/1/2005.
This is the owners words about her cat, Ricky:
Very loving, smart and affectionate

Smart, well behaved and very affectionate , found outside, summer of 2005. He was so sickly, thin and starving, but still very loving. I could not resist his loving ways, so I fed him, and called the Pet Hospital to have him fixed up and adopted; well, I ended up by keeping this little guy, who had already been through so much suffering.

Someone had kicked him in the head (scar on top of his head), breaking an upper fang on the right side off, in half. He also had worms, a huge load of coccidia (parasites in his intestines from eating garbage), a lung worm (very rare in cats), upper respiratory infection, but he pulled through.

I had his fang removed (in case of further infection in the tooth), he was neutered, and had all his shots. He has a sensitive system, and reacts to getting shots by becoming ill and very lethargic. He is up-to-date on rabies shot, as it lasts for 3 years, if not more, and he never goes outside.

He has sensitive digestion problems, so I try to avoid chicken and beef in his diet. Also receives 1/4 Pepcid tab before a.m. and p.m. meals. 2x daily.

Even while hospitalized and in a great deal of stress and post-op, he would still give the vet techs a hug when they took him out of the cage! He is outgoing and wants to please. He needs lots of love and he will be your best friend. He wakes me up every morning on time, too! He also loves toys, and to be brushed! When I first brought him in, he didn't even know what a toy was....

As you can see, Ricky's mom has gone to great lengths to give him a wonderful life, full of love.

. Please ill out an online application to adopt Ricky. His Housemate is Katie - they would do wonderful as a pair - as they are very comfortable with each other, this would make the transition much less stressful if they were to be adopted as a pair.

At Cat-Tales Rescue we offer the option of Microchipping your cat, if not already done so [we've just started to do it the summer of 2007 and have it done when they are spaye/neutered. IF they are not already done they can be done for a fee of $12. We give you all the necessary paperwork to register them with 24-Pet Watch. We offer a discount if adopting a pair of kittens/cats. Each cat[under 3 yrs of age] or kitten is $75 to adopt......if a pair of cats/kittens are adopted at the same time it is $65/cat [under 3 yrs of age] or kitten. Cats over 3 yrs of age are $65. Owner relinquished cats are $55.
All of our animals are tested for FIV/FeLV [if they are kittens the mom is tested and we strongly suggest the new owners have them tested when they are 6 months of age, as a guideline for the cats health].
All are spay/neutered, vaccinated [if adopted before the age at which their rabies vaccine can be given (3-4 months of age) it is the owners responsibility to get them their vaccine]. We also treat them for earmites, roundworms/hookworms and if necessary protozoa and giardia. We give you all the baby photos we have. We also give you their favorite toys and some catnip. We have lots of information available in handouts if there is a subject that you have questions about [we use very well known internet sites on cat care]. We are always available should any questions arise. We offer cedar scratching posts that all of our cats use, we also have nail clippers that are at our cost. Trimming a kittens nails when they are falling asleep is the best time. It is just a matter of getting them into the habit a couple times/month of having it done.

Please ...if you FEED them FIX them! Cats can get pregnant as young as 4 months of age and can have 4 litters a year. STOP the cycle of breeding Spay/Neuter Today! There are not enough homes. Every human being would have to care for and own 12 cats in order for every cat to have a home. Thus, a family of 3 people would own 36 cats!
