Bonnie's Kittens's Story...
Bonnie was found when she was pregnant and her babies were born on March 6, 2013. Thankfully a caring indivdual called us so Mom and babies would have a warm and safe place to stay. Because Bonnie is FIV positive we have to assume that the kittens will also be FIV positive. Bonnie is a great Mom and her kittens are active and healthy. We will have our vet complete an FIV test on the kittens at 12 weeks of age.

At 6 weeks of age the kittens will be available to be Reserved for Adoption, with an approved application and a $20 non refundable deposit. Kittens at our shelter do not go home until they are 12 weeks of age AND 3 pounds as that is when we will spay or neuter kittens. They will be current on all vaccines, mircochipped and spayed or neutered before being adopted..

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bonnie's Kittens, a Des Moines American Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Des Moines, or seeking a American Shorthair cat from a breeder in Des Moines.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Des Moines already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Des Moines breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Des Moines paves the way for another one to be saved.
