Willy's Story...
Willy is a lovable, playful young dog who loves getting attention. This little guy is a fast learner and very eager to please. He is always looking for direction. He would do well in a family with older children that would enjoy him and who would be able to take part in his training. He is a small dog approximately 8 - 10 months old and weighs just 14 lbs. His brother Billy will also be coming up for adoption shortly and consideration would be given to anyone looking to adopt them together but it is not necessary.

Here is what else his foster family had to say:

Willy knows his basic commands like sit, lay down and stay and 95% of the time when you ask him to come to you he does. He is very obedient once he knows what you want from him. I have been working on his leash training and he is doing very well. He does need someone to continue his training. Most of all he needs more socialization as he will bark at people and other dogs when we are on walks. Of course once we come in contact with who he was barking at he is fine. He loves other dogs and whenever we meet other dogs on a walk he wants to play with them. The more walks we go on the more I see him improve.

Willy is very quiet in the house. He will only bark a few times to initiate play with my dog. Willy would love a home with a backyard to play in to chase a ball and run around. These are his favourite things to do, besides cuddling up on the couch and getting lots of love.

He has never shown any aggression towards people or other dogs but he does not like the vacuum cleaner and will try to attack it. Willy gets along good with my dog but at first my dog would snap at him correcting him about how to play as he was a bit ruff, now they play fine together all the time. When he is on the leash he will bark and pull to try to get to another dog but once he is up close he just wants to sniff and play. He just needs to learn how to play with others. I don't think he was socialized a lot and he is still very young.

He has never chewed anything in the home but he does need to be watched with food being left on a table unattended. He knows how to Sit, lay down and stay. He is house trained and we have not been using a crate for him. He is currently being trained on leash and is doing well. He never tries to bolt out the door and he is great in the car.

I think Willy would be great for a family with kids about 7 years or older, as he's very playful and loves attention. He definitely needs a backyard to play in because he loves to run and play multiple times a day to burn off energy. Another dog would be good for him as well to play with and also help him learn how to be around other dogs, but it's not a must he would be fine being the only dog.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Willy, a Hamilton Chihuahua/Beagle puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Beagle for sale in Hamilton, or seeking a Chihuahua/Beagle puppy from a breeder in Hamilton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hamilton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hamilton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Beagle breeders who help with Chihuahua/Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hamilton paves the way for another one to be saved.
