MEET ZIGGY. This sweet fellow needs a stable home with no steps and a yard to wander in. He is about 6 years old, and hasn't had the best of circumstances recently, being confined to an apartment and not getting the walks and attention that dachshunds need to be happy. Take a look at those soulful eyes and you'll want to open your home and heart to Ziggy.
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same sex in a home and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues. All our dogs are fully vetted, including all shots, wormer & flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $350, no exceptions as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training. Can you give him a happy, carefree life again?
