Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Charlie a great purebred Border Collie with a wonderful personality who has made huge strides since entering foster care. He needs an owner who’s relatively dog-savvy to keep him pointed in the right direction.
At first Charlie’s foster parents saw NO herding instinct in him. But after he settled in a while, that all changed! He wants to herd other dogs, humans, vacuum cleaners, or whatever else might be moving in his path. When he gets a little overzealous he can be easily redirected, but he’s definitely a good prospect for the right trainer.
Charlie is housetrained, walks well on a leash, doesn’t chew on things that he knows are inappropriate, and does well in a crate. At first he’s sometimes be a bit vocal when you’re leaving the house, but settles down after getting used to the household routine.
Charlie should not live with cats, as he doesn’t fully understand them. He’s gradually learned to tolerate the cat in his foster home, but they’re never left alone, or allowed to interact with each other.
Charlie gets along well with adults and kids over 10. He gets a little nervous around younger kids. Combine this with his desire to herd, and it could be the recipe for problems.
His Golden Retriever foster brothers have taught Charlie how to RETRIEVE. He could play the throw and fetch game for hours. He has good mouth/eye coordination, so he’d excel as a Frisbee dog.
Charlie is very aware and curious of the areas around him. If he’s not living the life of a working dog, he should have some kind of containment area to keep him corralled when outdoors, because he might decide to explore the wide-open spaces!
If you’re looking for a purebred Border Collie that’s smart, playful, goofy, and loyal, Charlie could be the guy for you.
