Urgent! Lake Tahoe, NV - Sadie is a beautiful creamy-white 8-year-old, spayed female Husky/wolfdog that needs a home by the end of April! Her owners moved so Sadie was sent to Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue where she has spent 4 weeks beiing rehabilitated. When Sadie arrived here she was extremely shy, her coat was dry and falling out, and her teeth were brown. She was very fearful. Now her coat is luxurious and soft, she's gained some weight, her teeth are much better and she is more social, curious and housetrained! She runs around and plays with her male canine companion, Muraco, incessantly! She is currently up for adoption and must be placed very soon. Sadie is a mid-content wolfdog and absolutely needs a home with a large, neutered male companion or she will get very lonely. Sadie is shy but once she gets to know you she likes daily exercise and human attention. A home with someone that is wolfdog experienced is a must. A person who is self employed, works at home, or retired would also be great for this beautygirl but as long as she has a male companion to hang with, she is fine if left alone in the yard with access to shelter or a doggy door to home. When outdoors, Sadie is very shy with new people. Indoors she is curious and will come up to visitors for a sniff and a pet. She walks nicely on a leash/harness and loves to go for hikes in the woods where she is most comfortable and relaxed, but she is still a little nervous on the streets of a neighborhood with cars, noises and loose dogs. With a patient and calm handler she responds very well and is soon walking down the street nicely. It would take about 2-3 weeks for Sadie to settle in at a new home but with a regular routine she becomes more and more comfortable and very well behaved. Good daily exercise is great for helping her relax and presently she is going out two times a day - one 1-hour hike in the woods, and 40-minutes in the playtime enclosure with her buddy or another short hike, so an active owner who likes to hike [on a long leash] would be fabulous for this sweetie. Sadie is ok with kids that are calm and allow her to approach them [as opposed to walking up to her or being loud] but we will adopt Sadie into a home without small children, small dogs or cats - i.e. a calm environment. She is good with both men and women, and seems to be good with other dogs when introduced properly. She would not be good in an environment with a dominant female. She has spent her life in a back yard, sleeping in a garage with little human interaction. She is a different girl now and it would be nice for her to have a home where she has a doggy door and can be a part of the family. Sadie is now housetrained and does love to come in and be with you, especially in the evenings to watch TV. Sadie LOVES to watch wolves and dogs on TV! Presently she sleeps in our bedroom all night and is allowed to come and go through a doggy door. Before bedtime she snuggles on our bed to get extra belly rubs. She really does love the affection. Sadie needs a secure, escape-proof yard and the option to sleep in or outdoors with her "mate." Wolfdog experience or someone experienced with feral dogs is what this girl should have as she is still shy, and a gentle owner would make milestones with this sweetie. Sadie is submissive with humans and is not aggressive at all. She loves to play with her canine companion and is very energetic for an 8 year old, so a younger companion would be nice.
