Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi World...
My name is Chucky the Champ and I'm about a one and a half year old bichon. While I’m a cute little guy of about 18 pounds with one of the most gorgeous bichon coats of all time, I am not quite your average bichon. I’ve had a bit of a rocky start in my young life so I’m going to need a special person who is filled with love - but can also be patient with me.
The reason I have a longer name than most is that when I came into rescue my name was Chucky. Mom said that didn’t have the best connotation so she and Aunt Marti decided to call me Champ, as they knew that I was going to try really hard to be the best darned little champ in the world. Then last week at the groomer, I heard her talk about a little kitty named Chucky – and I got SO excited that I started to wag my tail and do a dance. That left Mom and Aunt Marti a bit surprised… so they decided if I like the name better than they do I could be called Chucky, the Champ.
My favorite thing in the world is to go on walks (second only to riding in the car)–and I am extremely well mannered on my leash. I’m in training with my Mom and am best friends with my doggy foster brothers and sisters (Mom has a lot of dogs ‘cause she’s a trainer so I have a lot of friends nearby!) When I discovered I could play with them – for hours on end – it was one of the happiest days of my life. I like to race around the yard playing tag and hide-and-go-seek – or tossing my newly discovered squeaky toys in the air. Mom says I am very nice and kind to my toys -- and I can be very entertaining when I play with them, too.
Mom says I'm fairly well housetrained (she takes me out a lot because I love to go on walks - the more, the better!) and really want to please her and boy! have I learned my commands. I know Come, Sit, Let’s Go, Lie Down and Leave It. I am completely comfortable hanging out with my blankies and toys. I also like to curl up on my blankie and watch whatever is going on.
Mom says that I'm not a barker, I don’t chew things up and, once I get to know you, I like to give lots of doggy kisses and tail wags. She says I’ll do best in a home with people that know and understand dogs – and that it would be even better if there was another pup or two for me to have as buddies! While I like children a lot, it would be best if I were not in a home with younger children until I finish my ‘growing up stuff’ as Mom calls it.
The most important thing for you to know is that I have a lot of potential -- and have come a LONG way already in a very short period of time. In a loving home with an experienced dog person I can go the rest of the way – and become the happy little bichon I really want to be all the time
