My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rudy is a very friendly dog and loves any sort of human attention. He is an active, friendly dog who loves everyone. He looks like a Golden Retriever but he has very short legs so he is a mini. He weighs only 35 lbs. He is a fun-loving, affectionate, and friendly boy would be a great family pet. He would love a backyard to play in and kids to love and get affection from. He is a young boy approximately 1 – 2 years old.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Rudy is the sweetest dog and instantly loves anyone that pays any attention to him. He lived with us, four girls, in a student house that constantly had people coming in and out and he has loved everyone that he met! He is very affectionate and loves to cuddle. He will sit with you all day long if you wanted him too. Whenever we come home from school, Rudy is there at the front door to greet us with his smile. He is very patient and has a very high tolerance with humans which makes us believe he would be great with children of any age. He absolutely loves human affection!

He is a very quiet dog and we have never actually heard him bark. Even when someone knocks at the door, or rings the doorbell he doesn't make a peep. Of course as soon as someone actually walks in, he is right there to greet them, tail wagging and smiling. He is no watchdog. This would however make him a good choice for apartment living however he really enjoys having a back yard to run and play in.

Rudy has absolute no interest in human food! You can eat a whole steak meal right beside him and he won’t even try to sniff it which means no begging, which is great! He does love to chew so we went and bought him a pedigree bone. He loves the pedigree bone and he hasn't chewed anything he shouldn't since! When you’re sitting on any furniture, he always looks at you first for permission to go “up.” If you don’t say “up,” he won’t go up! If you want him down from the couch or bed, you just have to say “down” once and he gets off right away!

Rudy is great with tricks! We taught him how to give paw the first few days he was living with us, and now he won’t stop giving paw to everyone haha! He also knows how to sit and we’re in the process of teaching him how to lie down. He doesn’t know how to stay, and hates being alone... so be prepared to have him follow you all around the house! He is crate trained but we are not using a crate as he does not need one. He is fully house trained and can be left for a normal working day without issue. He is nearly leash trained but will need some further training as he still likes to pull. We are working on this. When we take him on walks, he doesn’t pay any attention to other animals (not even towards other barking dogs). Rudy has never tried to escape from the backyard or tried to bolt out the door. One time, someone was moving a piece of furniture into the house and left the door open but he just sat on the couch and paid no attention to the open door.

Rudy is terrified of thunderstorms, and will hide under furniture to try and get away from them. He is usually always smiling, but only during thunderstorms have I seen him frown!

He loves to play with people! He loves to play fight and run around the yard in circles. He hasn’t quite figured out how to play with his toys yet.... (we’re currently trying to teach him how to fetch). He also loves to chew, whether it be chewing his stuffed animal or his pedigree bones.

Overall, I feel like Rudy would go great with a family with kids. He loves attention so if someone could be with him all day, that would be the best scenario! He is still young and active so he would need to be with a family that is willing to take him on walks/go to the park with him. It would be great if the family had a house with a decent sized, fenced in backyard because Rudy loves playing outside!

If you think Rudy would be a good addition to your family, please submit an application for consideration.
