Sammy's Story...
I was found as a little puppy, abandoned along a highway. Humans did not handle me very much when I was little, so I have been learning to trust and enjoy people during the past couple years. Now I am ready to find a gentle, patient household where I can take time to settle in. I would also like a large safe place to run --- I promise I will keep the squirrels in their trees for you! However, I will also chase cats & chickens and anything else that runs. I have already had conservative treatment for light positive heartworms, so will hopefully test negative by the end of this year. Do you have room in your home and heart for a loyal pal?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sammy, a Wharton Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Retriever (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Retriever (Unknown Type) for sale in Wharton, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Retriever (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Wharton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wharton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wharton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Retriever (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Retriever (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wharton paves the way for another one to be saved.
