Rookie's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.

Rookie's Story...
Rookie, a beautiful Chocolate Lab mix, was found wandering about in Houston. He had no particular destination in mind, and an owner could not be located. Rookie is looking forward to meeting you and exercising his considerable charm to enchant and delight you with his all-American goodness!

Personality: Rookie is friendly with a hint of caution. He is calm and obedient. Rookie gets along with other dogs, likes everyone he has met, enjoys car rides, and is not bothered by going to strange places. Rookie has not met children while in foster care, but Labs are known as family dogs great with children.

Training: From all appearances, Rookie seems to have been an outside dog that was not taught the basic commands and indoor behavior--although he is now learning life skills at his foster home. Rookie is used to a collar and leash, however; he sometimes pulls on the leash. Rookie has displayed no destructive behavior at his foster home. So far, he has only barked at squirrels in the yard.

Rookie is just a big sweetheart that needs somebody to love! Rookie can learn and be trained to be your best friend. The time you spend together, whether training, walking, or simply chilling, will help Rookie form a lifelong bond with you. Please meet Rookie and see if he is the dog you can’t live without!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rookie, a Houston Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Houston, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
