Leo is a 2-3 year old, 8 lb. Shih Tzu/Maltese mix with large soulful eyes. He is adorable, cute, loving and sweet, and enjoys giving you sweet kisses and also sitting on your lap. Leo was found abandoned on a riverbed trail. He was severely matted, so we had to shave him down, but his coat will grow back nicely and he will be adorable! Being a Shih Tzu/Maltese mix, Leo is a low to no-shedding dog and is most likely HYPOALLERGENIC. Leo was initially terrified, but within days, he showed his trust of humans, and became playful and affectionate. Leo sleeps in a cozy pet bed inside his crate and often cuddle in his foster mom’s lap. He makes the cutest squeaky noises when he wants attention, and sometimes does a cute, little happy dance, standing on his rear legs, with his two front paws up in the air.

Leo enjoys taking walks and also riding in the car. He is housebroken (but potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) and in his foster home, he has free outdoor access to a small yard by way of a dog door. He is still learning his basic commands but seems curious to learn and likes taking the jerky treats when he masters the task. Leo enjoys the company of other dogs but also seems content to do his own thing; he is fine with the two cats in his foster home and does not bother them. Leo is timid of strangers and would rather hang back but it does not take long for him to warm up to receive being petted and make friends. He is best placed in a home with a gentle people or with older kids who are not loud and overwhelming. Leo is a great companion dog who is hoping to find his forever home with his forever person or people who will never abandon him again.

Leo is neutered, de-wormed, vaccinated including rabies, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Leo, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Leo - I do not shed!, a Bellflower Shih Tzu/Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu/Maltese for sale in Bellflower, or seeking a Shih Tzu/Maltese dog from a breeder in Bellflower.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bellflower already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bellflower breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu/Maltese breeders who help with Shih Tzu/Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bellflower paves the way for another one to be saved.
