Book's Story...
FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID

Book is a 11-12 yr old neutered Bernese Mountain Dog/Aussie mix whose owner could no longer care for him. He was not going well in a shelter in Salt Lake so Fuzzy Pawz took him into foster care.

It is apparent Book has a fondness for food and may have been just a tad bit spoiled throughout his life; when he showed up at the shelter the vets weighed him in at 85 pounds – after a shave due to being severely matted he was 76 pounds. Book has been on a diet and has been getting regular exercise and is now down to 68 pounds and has a few more to lose. This is one solid boy with a VERY thick coat; he does have weak back legs due to lack of exercise, his bulk and some arthritis. Due to this he has a very hard time with stairs so will need to go to a home that is one level.

Book is essentially that a giant slow moving bear that will eagerly plop next to you for a good rest. Resting is his favorite past time but he is up for some leisurely walks or a slow romp in the dog park; both of which he enjoys.

This gentle boy was raised well and is a perfect gentleman; he is very social, polite, and well behaved. Takes treats gently from your hands and knows his basic commands. He is great with everyone he meets both human and animal in all shapes and sizes.

Book is house trained (but doesn’t like to use a dog door), crate trained and has learned how to use a ramp to get in and out of his foster dads truck.
He has had many of his teeth pulled recently as they were rotten but this does not stop him from eating treats and dry food. He has undergone 4 laser treatments to help with the weakness in his hind legs and is doing a bit better. He is also on a Myristin/Glucosamine supplement that helps a great deal.
He may be on the older side and a little slow moving but Book is undeniably the cutest old man in the world! He has some years left in him with a bit of pampering and would make a wonderful, loving, sweet and gentle companion for most any home.

If you can offer Book a soft place to lay his head at night please complete an application and we will get in touch with you: http://www.fuzzypawzrescue.com/adoptionapplication.htm

Book is neutered, vaccinated and will come with a supply of his supplements.

There is a $25 adoption fee for Book

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Book, a Boise Bernese Mountain Dog/Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bernese Mountain Dog/Australian Shepherd for sale in Boise, or seeking a Bernese Mountain Dog/Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Boise.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Boise already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Boise breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bernese Mountain Dog/Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Bernese Mountain Dog/Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Boise paves the way for another one to be saved.
