Donna's Story...
Donna is a sweet, snuggly, loving and fun, two-year-old, eight-pound, female fawn Chihuahua looking for a loving guardian. Donna is easy to walk on leash. She is living in a foster home with other dogs and cats. She’s playful, so best with cats that don’t mind a playful dog. Donna is full of kisses and loves being held and loved. She doesn’t seem to know any formal commands yet, but if you hold up a treat, she’ll dance the hula … and take the treat gently form your fingers. She loves toys and will self-entertain or play fetch or tug of war with you. She is crate-trained and is almost perfectly housebroken. Donna is healthy, de-wormed, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. She came into Chicago Animal Care and Control as an owner give-up with double cherry eye. She had surgery and is doing great! To meet and possibly adopt Donna, please contact Chris at or 630-699-1480. Her adoption fee of $200 benefits the rescued dogs of Famous Fido’s Rescue and Adoption Alliance. She is being fostered in Chicago.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Donna, a Chicago Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
