My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meeka is a unique looking girl with icy blue eyes. It would appear that she has not had the best beginning but she has learned to trust and enjoying the fun of playing with toys. She is a gentle soul and needs someone that is willing to be patient and kind. She is good with people of all ages but would do best with older children. She is fine with other dogs and cats but would do best as the only dog in the home. She is well behaved, very clean and quiet. Meeka is an adult dog, approximately 4 years old and weighs under 30 lbs.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Meeka is a very gentle soul. It is obvious she has had a hard life in the past. When she first came into my home she had a terrified look on her face but after seeing that everything was fine, she quickly warmed up and came to be for pets. Since that time we have become the best of friends. She didn't have any idea what toys were when she first got here but you wouldn't know that now. She loves playing with her toys and will happily engage with you to share and play with her. She is a very sweet girl. She does seem to warm up to women faster then men but once they speak to her and pet her, she is fine with men as well. She has been around children with no issues however due to her timid nature she would probably do best with children 6 and over.

Meeka loves to cuddle at night and early morning. She now really likes her toy, and will run after it every chance she gets. She enjoys walks and being out in the yard. She also likes to look out the window. She is very quiet in the home and only barks to come back into the house. She enjoys going for walks and is good with any other dogs she meets. She is also great with cats. Although she is good with other dogs she meets, I think for Meeka's sake she would be happiest in a home where she was the only dog and could get all the attention for herself.

She is very well behaved in the home. She never tries to steal anything, or chew on anything other than her own toys. She knows her basic commands such as sit, come, down, leave it, etc. She is fully house trained and can be left for long hours with no problems. She should not be crated as it causes her to be very upset and there is no reason to crate her as she is fine and can be trusted on her own in the home. She does like to be wherever you are at night and would love it if she could sleep in your bed. She would be fine in an apartment as she is very quiet in the home.

Meeka is a lovely pet that just needs someone with a bit of patience to allow her to get to know you and then you will see her true nature shine through. She is a wonderful little friend and companion and enjoys being around you and going wherever you want to go. She would do well as a single's companion or a family pet with older children in the home. She is fine with other dogs but would do best on her own with possibly a cat for company while you are away. She would love a home with a backyard to play in but apartment living would be fine as long as she was given opportunities to meet and play with other dogs at times. She is more interested in her people and is well behaved and eager to please. She responds very well to praise. She is good with my 6 year old neighbour. She would benefit with further leash training as she does pull a bit.

If you think Meeka would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
