Solo's Story...
Meet Solo! This gorgeous roughly one-year-old girl (born June 2012) with the funny, soot-black nose was one of the lucky kitties that we were able to rescue from a horrible situation. Sadly, and quite despite the fact that someone invested time and effort into TNR-ing and actively caring for over 25 cats, a neighbor has rounded up more than half of Solo's former colony and taken them to a shelter. Those cats are no longer with us.

We think that little Solo and her story are very special, and also emblematic of what we believe here at FOF: all cats deserve a chance. Thinking she might bring you luck? Solo will make a great lap cat and loves drinking out of fountains. Just keep in mind that this sassy former street lass can give as good as she gets when provoked by another kitty. But swing a string toy in Solo's direction, show her some love, and you'll have a friend for life! If you'd like to meet this small wonder in person, fill out an application and come on in!

All of our kittens are spayed or neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, vaccinated against Distemper, and treated for fleas and other parasites.

If you are interested in adopting one of our kittens, please click here to fill out an Adoption Application. Our adoption fee is $85 for one kitten and $125 for two.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Solo, a Grand Rapids Domestic Longhair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Longhair for sale in Grand Rapids, or seeking a Domestic Longhair cat from a breeder in Grand Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Grand Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Grand Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Longhair breeders who help with Domestic Longhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Grand Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
