Tasha's Story...
Ms. Tasha is a sweet little Havanese girl who was released by a breeder. She is still quite scared of all the new things she is encountering, but really just wants to love and be loved. Tasha likes kids, and gets along well with other dogs. She will need a dog companion in her forever home to help her complete her transition to her new life as a pet. Tasha likes to find small spaces to squeeze in for a little nap. She is skittish of being picked up, and her foster Mom is working on making her comfortable with that. But once you do pick her up, she will shower you with doggie kisses. Tasha is crate trained, and doing well with house and leash training. Her foster Mom can update you on all skills when you apply to adopt. Can you give this little lady the home she deserves, with the love and patience to allow her to blossom?

Tasha weighs 10 lbs, is white in color, and 7 years young. She has had to be shaved down, but will soon have a new coat. Her adoption fee is $225, and includes a dental and all of our vetting, below. She is being fostered by Carol and family in Madison, OH. Not all our dogs are totally house trained at the time of adoption. We crate train them or potty pad train and work on potty skills. When your application is approved, you will speak with the foster Mom and can get more information about how far along the foster dog is in potty and social skills. Dogs learn quickly and most are pretty far along or trained by the time of adoption, however you should always expect some adjustment when moving a dog to a new home.

Tasha has been examined by our vet, has had a 5/1 annual shot, a rabies shot and tag, has been dewormed, heartworm tested and passed, and has been spayed or neutered before adoption. Our rescues are on flea/tick and heartworm monthly preventatives in season. We also do a dental if our vet deems it necessary, which is included in our adoption fee. Our adoption fee covers all vetting expenses and a small donation to cover the dogs' food and care.

We send your new dog home with a copy of all vet paperwork, adoption papers, a small bag of the dog food they have been eating and information on taking care of the dog. Also included is a health folder for your vet and notes from our foster mom on the dog's schedule, habits and socialization skills. We do not require a fenced yard on all of our dogs, it is on a as needed basis. HOWEVER if you don't have a fenced yard we do require you to purchase an exercise pen (>$60 on internet) so that the dog can be safe when outside; SMALL DOGS CAN NOT BE TIED OUT.

We adopt our rescue dogs to adopters in Ohio and some other states within driving distance of the foster family. We do NOT ship our dogs--the adoptive parents must meet the dog at the foster mother's home. This will give the adoptive family a chance to meet the dog before they adopt it. Our dogs are fostered in NE Ohio and surrounding areas. Please make sure you are willing to drive to pick up the dog within 2 weeks of being approved, and check the distance to the foster home per the location above.

Please visit our website www.ronsrescuedrascals.org to learn more about our adoption procedures and policies. From there you can also submit an adoption application, meet our volunteers and benefit from the 9+ years of rescue experience of our all-volunteer, non-profit rescue!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tasha, a North Benton Havanese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Havanese for sale in North Benton, or seeking a Havanese dog from a breeder in North Benton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in North Benton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a North Benton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Havanese breeders who help with Havanese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in North Benton paves the way for another one to be saved.
